CLOTHING

Clothes made with natural resources are best because they can be composted once they are not longer usable. Make sure you get clothes made from renewable, natural fibers such as cotton, wool, hemp, or silk. Man-made textiles create chemical byproducts or micro plastics, which are polluting our environment. Below are some tips that we use to reduce textile waste:

  1. Fix the clothes you have

    • Patch holes

      • Check out this blog post for more details.

    • Convert pants to shorts

    • Keep a needle and thread on hand

  2. Buy used clothes

    • thrift stores are a great resource

    • clothing swaps are also great

  3. Buy from sustainable companies

    • We love to use HumBird to buy some of our wool clothing.

    • Might be pricier, but lasts longer due to better quality
