Method:

  1. Dig a hole in your garden, 18-24" deep.

  2. Add your scraps and browns (leaves, dry grass, paper), no more than 6" deep.

  3. Cover with at least 12" of dirt

  4. Wait at least 2 month before planting

When to trench:

Any time of the year, especially in the fall when your garden bed is sitting for a long period of time.

VERMICULTURE

Vermiculture is using worms to break down your kitchen scraps to make compost. This compost, known as worm castings or black gold, is different than regular compost because it is the best kind of fertilizer to add to your garden. You can add it around the base of your plants as is or you can make a "worm tea" by diluting the castings with water.
